Kicking off Keswick

United Utilities has commenced work on Keswick’s long-awaited town centre sewer improvements located in the North Lake District, UK.

The new structure will eventually replace the town’s existing pumping station in Greta Grove. At around twice the size, it will play a vital role protecting the environment and helping prevent the problem of sewer flooding which occasionally affects some local homes.

Project manager Simon Povey said engineers had a lot of essential work to do but had the community’s best interests at heart.

“As well as working in the car park, the coming weeks will also see some work under Keswick streets. We’ve talked to a lot of people about the best way to do this and now have a program that avoids the run-up to Christmas and a number of important local events.

“After the new year we will be back to install and upgrade some sewer pipes and we hope to finish this by Easter,” Mr Povey said.
