Watermains upgrade for Cookstown area

Northern Ireland Water has invested £7 million toward the water supply infrastructure in the greater Cookstown area, located in Country Tyrone, Northern Ireland. The program of improvements is set to get underway in the Cookstown area in late September 2011 and will last approximately 12 months.

The work will involve the replacement of approximately 110 km of water mains to improve the quality, reliability and flexibility of water supply, while also reducing leakage.

The work will take place in two phases, with one phase focusing on the area around Moneymore, including work taking place in the Loup and Orritor areas.

The second phase will centre on the rest of the Cookstown District, with work taking place in areas such as the settlements of Kingsmills, Dunnamore and The Rock.
